The three pillars of a child's success in sport
What is the single most important factor in a young athlete's success? Talent? A good school? Money?
❗️No. The most important factor is the healthy ecosystem the adults build around them.
Picture a triangle of strength:
▪️The child (their desire, their work ethic, their emotions) ▪️The coach (their expertise, their methodology, their authority) ▪️The parents (their support, their wisdom, their unconditional love)
If one of the sides collapses or pushes too hard, the whole structure is at risk.
We'll start with the most important people — the parents, and specifically the distinct roles of the father and the mother. Read on in our other articles.
A question: who, in your view, gets in a child's way more often in sport — parents who demand too much or parents who are indifferent?
P.S. we have a webinar on a related topic on the platform: "Age. Friend or enemy?".
