The mother's role: the Emotional Anchor and the Stress Buffer

If the father is often associated with objectivity and reality, the mother's role is emotional safety. Her contribution is no less important, and subtler.

  1. The emotional anchor.

Mum is the place where you can be not "an athlete" but simply a child. Cry after a defeat, complain about being tired, get a hug and the words: "I'm with you, I understand how hard this is for you." She doesn't judge, she accepts every emotion.

That is the main source of mental recovery.

  1. The stress buffer.

It is usually the mother who senses when a child is on the edge of burnout. She can notice it in time and say gently: "Let's skip today and rest." She protects their sleep, their eating routine, their right to an ordinary childhood.

She is the voice of common sense when the coach's or the father's ambitions take over.

The mother's task:to create a space of unconditional love where the child's worth does not depend on medals.
