How do you support yourself right after a loss?

Confidence doesn't fall out of the sky after a big win. It is built brick by brick. During a bad spell that foundation matters most of all.

THE MOST POWERFUL TOOL IS A "WINS JOURNAL" (or a "growth journal").

Every day, answer three questions:

  • What was better today than yesterday?

(For example: "Today I read the field more clearly", "I found the energy for an extra stretching session".)

  • What can I give myself credit for?

("I didn't snap at the referee", "I helped a teammate".)

  • What one small step did I take toward my goal?

("I analysed 15 minutes of video of my own game".)

You wouldn't believe how, after 2-3 weeks, this practice shifts the focus from "nothing is working for me" to "I am constantly growing and moving forward". You start noticing progress where you never saw it before. This isn't about talking yourself into anything — it is about collecting objective data on your own progress. Your confidence will rest on facts.
