Athlete burnout

Athlete burnout is a state of emotional, physical and motivational depletion caused by chronic stress and overload.

Definition

Three signs: exhaustion, devaluation of the sport (cynicism) and a falling sense of accomplishment. It develops gradually and should not be confused with ordinary tiredness.

How it shows up in sport

Reluctance to train, irritability, falling results, thoughts of quitting the sport, disturbed sleep.
