Growth mindset

A growth mindset is the belief that ability develops through effort, learning and working on your mistakes.

Definition

Carol Dweck's concept. Its opposite is a fixed mindset ("you either have talent or you don't"). It shapes how you relate to mistakes and challenges.

How it shows up in sport

An athlete with a growth mindset seeks feedback, isn't afraid of hard tasks, and treats a mistake as data for development.
